Sri Lanka, Feb. 24 -- Closure of two factories belonging to Mas Holdings could be a blow to the Sri Lankan economy as 26,000 people will lose their employment as a result, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said today.

Premadasa, who came out with these remarks during a ceremony held in Kupiyawatte, said shifting of some apparel factories from Sri Lanka to India will be another blow for the local industrial sector.

"Mas Holdings is one of the companies which came up as a result of the 200 apparel factory programme introduced by my father, late President Ranasinghe Premadasa.
