SriLanka, Sept. 13 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have agreed to strengthen bilateral relations, with both leaders describing China and India as partners rather than rivals during talks on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

The meeting took place on September 12 during the 18th BRICS Summit, where the two leaders held discussions on bilateral relations, economic cooperation, border issues and global affairs.

Xi said China viewed its relations with India from a strategic and long-term perspective and noted that institutional exchanges between the two countries had resumed, cooperation had expanded and bilateral trade had reached a new high.
