Sri Lanka, Sept. 9 -- Child rights advocate Tushara Wickramanayaka has stressed that a child's consent is more important than simply categorising physical contact as "good touch" or "bad touch", calling for greater awareness of children's rights and protection.

The advocate made the comments in a social media post contrasting two photographs involving children, while calling for greater awareness of child protection and age-appropriate sexuality education.

The post criticised the failure to fully implement the National Child Protection Policy, arguing that children remain vulnerable when adequate child protection mechanisms are not effectively enforced.
