Sri Lanka, July 1 -- Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, participated in the Second Extraordinary Consistory convened by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican on June 26 and 27.

The high-level advisory meeting, held at the invitation of the Pope, brought together 178 cardinals from around the world to deliberate on key issues affecting the Catholic Church and the global community.

The proceedings commenced with a Holy Mass at St. Peter's Basilica, followed by four working sessions held at the Paul VI Audience Hall.

During the two-day gathering, the cardinals discussed the current state of the Church, the promotion of world peace, the ongoing process of synodality, and the Pope's new encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas.
