Sri Lanka, April 7 -- The Cabinet has approved steps to amend the Value Added Tax Act, No. 14 of 2002, in line with proposed tax policy changes outlined in the 2025 and 2026 budgets.
The amendments include the postponement of the implementation of Value Added Tax on services provided through electronic platforms, particularly by non-resident service providers, to July 1, 2026.
The Legal Draftsman has prepared the amendment bill, which has received clearance from the Attorney General.
Accordingly, the proposal submitted by the President in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development to publish the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill in the Government Gazette and subsequently present it to Parliament for approval ...
