Sri Lanka, April 27 -- Acting on information that Keeri Samba rice was being sold above the stipulated Maximum Retail Price (MRP) at several shops in the Bokkawala area of the Kandy District, officials of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) carried out a series of special inspections on April 24, 2026.
During the raids, CAA officers inspected retail outlets in the area to verify compliance with pricing regulations and to identify traders engaging in overpricing practices.
The Consumer Affairs Authority reiterated that it continues to take strict legal action against traders who violate MRP regulations, noting that such practices cause inconvenience to consumers and undermine fair market conditions.
