Sri Lanka, Feb. 23 -- 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed and his pillion rider critically injured following a collision with a car at Nagashandiya in Kalutara, police said.

The deceased was identified as a resident of Samagipura, Waskaduwa, in Kalutara North.

According to police, the accident occurred when the motorcycle, travelling from Panadura towards Kalutara, attempted to take a right turn into a by-road at Nagashandiya. The motorcycle had collided with an oncoming car at the time.

The motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the pillion rider, who was riding with him, sustained critical injuries and was admitted to hospital for treatment.

Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
