Sri Lanka, March 1 -- Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Anura Karunathilake said today the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and the Mattala Airport are prepared if any flight to the Middle East requests for emergency landing.
The Minister said the assistance of the Sri Lanka Air Force will be obtained if necessary.
He said flights which have departed from various airports to the BIA and Mattala have been diverted to other airports and that steps will be taken to fly back the passengers of these flights to the BIA and Mattala airports as soon as possible.
