Sri Lanka, Aug. 6 -- A new Beettu Office has been opened under the Damana Site to strengthen efforts to reduce human-elephant conflict in the Siyambalanduwa area.

The Govidupura Beettu Office was opened on July 28 to improve the delivery of wildlife-related services to residents of Kotagoda, Weragoda, Nawgala and Pallegama, where human-elephant conflict remains a major concern.

The office is strategically located near the elephant migration corridor linking Lahugala National Park and Gal Oya National Park, as well as the Bakmitiyawa-Thimbirigolla Forest Department Reserve.
