BASL chief's remark causes rumpus in Parliament
Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- A comment made by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) President Rajiv Amarasuriya that the government has acted in a threatening manner with regard to the proposed meeting of MPs with a BASL delegation which was fixed for today, brought about arguments between Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and Chief Government Whip Nalinda Jayatissa in Parliament today.
Dr. Jayatissa said the remark made by the BASL chief was far from being the truth.
"No one acted in a threatening manner. The remark affects the dignity of Parliament," the Minister said.
Sajith Premadasa said those in the government have spoken in a threatening tone in the House on Wednesday.
