SriLanka, Oct. 7 -- A bank officer from Kelaniya was arrested and produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court for allegedly assisting Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera to evade arrest.

The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) informed court that the suspect had knowingly transported the monk from Rajagiriya to the Elpitiya area in his private vehicle, despite being aware that an arrest warrant had been issued against him.

Following the submissions, Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama ordered that the suspect be remanded until October 9.

The CCD is conducting further investigations into the alleged assistance provided to Gnanasara Thera.
