Sri Lanka, April 25 -- Asanga Seneviratne, the President of the Sri Lanka Baseball Federation, has been elected as the new President of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka.

The election was held at the Sri Lanka Olympic House, where Seneviratne secured 16 votes. He previously also served as the head of Sri Lanka Rugby.

In the contest, Jaswar Umar, President of the Sri Lanka Football Federation, received 11 votes. Meanwhile, Shirantha Peiris, Vice President of the Sri Lanka Shooting Federation, obtained two votes.

The election was conducted to appoint officials for the next four-year term of the National Olympic Committee. A total of 29 sports associations affiliated with the NOC were eligible to vote in the process.
