Sri Lanka, June 23 -- A group of three unidentified individuals broke into a Rural Bank in the Koralaima area of Moragahahena early this morning (June 23), fleeing with a cache of gold jewellery stored in the bank's vault.

According to the police, the suspects had infiltrated the bank premises at around 1:00 AM. Upon entering, they overpowered and tied up the security guards on duty before gaining access to the building by breaking through a bathroom window located at the rear of the property.

Once inside, the robbers broke open the secure vault and plundered the gold items deposited there.

The Moragahahena Police have launched an investigation to track down the perpetrators.
