Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- Applications for the 11th phase of the Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme for students seeking higher education have opened, with the application period running from August 17 to September 27, 2026.

The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.

Students who sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination in 2023, 2024 or 2025 and obtained at least three ordinary passes (S) in all three subjects are eligible to apply, provided they meet the other stipulated requirements.

Applicants must also have obtained at least an ordinary pass (S) in English at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination and a minimum of 30 marks for the General Information Test.
