Amber warm weather advisory issued for six districts
Sri Lanka, July 11 -- The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre has issued an Amber Warm Weather Advisory for Sunday (July 12), warning that the heat index - the temperature felt by the human body - is likely to reach the 'Caution' level in several parts of the country during the daytime.
The advisory, issued at 5.00 p.m. today (11), covers the districts of Mullaittivu, Vavuniya, Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalee and Monaragala.
Authorities advised the public to be prepared, as elevated heat index levels could pose health risks, particularly to those engaged in outdoor activities, children, the elderly and individuals with chronic illnesses.
