Sri Lanka, April 28 -- "AI is like a sharp knife," Vietnamese Buddhist monk Ven. Pagnakara Thera said, cautioning the public about the growing dependence on artificial intelligence (AI).

Addressing a Dhamma session held today at the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya, the Thera urged people to rely on their own thinking abilities before turning to AI technology for assistance.

He warned that many individuals, including students, are increasingly misusing AI and slowly losing the habit of independent thinking and memory use.

"Even students now use AI to write essays and emails without thinking for themselves. Earlier, we used our brains to do calculations, but now we depend on AI for almost everything. If this continues, we will no longer be us...
