SriLanka, Sept. 21 -- Russian flag carrier aeroflot will resume flight operations between Moscow and Colombo on October 3, 2026 with two scheduled for a week initially, according to Ambassador Levan Dzhagaryan.

The Ambassador told Daily Mirror that frequency of flight operations would be increased later.

He said resumption of flights would facilitate Russian nationals planning to visit Sri Lanka.

"We encourage more and more Russian nationals to visit Sri Lanka," he said.

Aeroflot stopped flight operations due to low season on May 17, 2026.

Resumption will take place targeting the upcoming winter season. During the summer, number of arrivals from Russia drops. Russia is a key source market for Sri Lanka tourism.
