SriLanka, Nov. 1 -- The Government has appointed 2,819 trainee nurses as Grade III nursing officers to the Sri Lankan health service, while 76 Grade I nursing officers have been promoted to the Special Grade.

The appointment letters were presented at a ceremony held at Temple Trees this morning (1), under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The newly appointed nursing officers belong to the 2020 student nursing cohort, who successfully completed the three-year Higher Diploma course at 16 nursing colleges under the Ministry of Health and Mass Media.

They will be assigned to hospitals and healthcare institutions administered by both the central government and provincial councils across the country.
