Sri Lanka, Aug. 26 -- Thirteen motorcycles have been handed over to field officers of the Department of Wildlife Conservation in the Trincomalee District to strengthen wildlife protection efforts, curb forest-related offences and improve the response to the growing human-elephant conflict.

The motorcycles were officially handed over yesterday (25) at the Trincomalee Regional Wildlife Office under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Environment Anton Jayakody.

Trincomalee District MP Roshan Akmeemana, the District Secretary, officials of the Department of Wildlife Conservation and Ministry of Environment, and other state officials attended the ceremony.
