'Summitpura Chatu' brought back to Sri Lanka from Oman
Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- Kankanamlage Dimuthu Chaturanga Perera, also known as "Summitpura Chatu" or "Modara Chatu," an alleged organised crime figure wanted by Sri Lankan authorities, was brought back to Sri Lanka from Oman in the early hours of Tuesday (18) and handed over to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) for further investigations.
According to law enforcement sources, Chaturanga was arrested by police authorities in Oman based on a pending Interpol Red Notice before being deported to Sri Lanka.
The suspect, a resident of Summitpura in Modara (Mattakkuliya), is reported to have fled Sri Lanka for Oman on March 22, 2025, allegedly using a forged passport.
