Sri Lanka, Oct. 5 -- The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasuriya has urged police officers to remain focused on their duties and not be distracted by social media, while assuring them of the support of the President, the relevant Minister and the Ministry Secretary to perform their duties without interference.

The IGP has also warned that police officers involved in criminal activities will not be tolerated within the Police Department, regardless of their rank or position.

Addressing police personnel, the IGP said strict action would be taken against officers who assist criminal activities, engage in drug trafficking or maintain links with organized crime groups.
