Mumbai, Sept. 16 -- Volvo Construction Equipment India has commercially launched the EC650, a 65-tonne class mining excavator, at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026, expanding its portfolio for demanding mining and mass excavation applications.
Powered by the Volvo D13E engine delivering 435 hp, the EC650 features a heavy-duty boom and arm, robust undercarriage and advanced hydraulics. The company said the machine is designed for durability, fuel efficiency and performance in intensive mining operations.
The EC650 is available for immediate delivery to mining customers and will also be offered through Volvo CE's Equipment-as-a-Service model. The company will support the machine through connected services, productivity solutions, repair and maintenance agreements and application-led offerings aimed at improving uptime and site efficiency.
At the exhibition, Volvo CE is showcasing equipment across construction, compaction, mining and electric segments.
Its 20-tonne excavator range includes the EC210, EC215 and EC220 for applications such as road construction, urban development, quarrying and river-bed mining. The company is also displaying the EC300, SD110, DD90 and L120 Electric Wheel Loader.
In the mining segment, the EC480, EC650 and L150 are among the key machines on display.
"India's mining sector is operating at a scale and intensity like never before, and it demands equipment that can perform reliably in demanding conditions while remaining fuel efficient and responsive to operators," said Dimitrov Krishnan, Managing Director, Volvo Construction Equipment India.
He added that the EC650 is aimed at providing mining operators with dependable performance across intensive working shifts.
The showcase also supports Volvo CE's 'Aaj Banayein Kal' campaign, which focuses on the role of contractors, customers and equipment operators in building India's future infrastructure.
Volvo CE has also announced investment in its Technology Centre in Bengaluru to strengthen R&D, localisation and product innovation for Indian and global markets.
