Mumbai, Oct. 28 -- The Thane Coastal Road-1 project has reached 45 per cent completion after the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) erected 10 I-girders in a single day. The girders were installed on 14 October 2026 as part of construction work on the access-controlled corridor.

The daily achievement exceeded the project's usual output of four to six girders, according to an official statement issued by MMRDA. The authority described the installation as a construction milestone and said it represented a significant step in the project's progress.

The corridor is 13.45 km long and has six lanes. It is being developed to connect NH-3 and NH-48 at Kharegaon Toll Naka with Gaimukh, creating a direct transport link across the Thane region.

Once completed, the road is expected to provide an alternative route to Ghodbunder Road. The project's access-controlled design is intended to support smoother movement along the corridor, while the girder installation marks progress on the structures required for the route.

MMRDA's latest update focused on the pace of girder erection and the overall completion level. The authority did not provide a revised completion date or additional details about the remaining construction work in the statement. The 45 per cent progress figure covers the project as a whole, while the 10-girder installation reflects output recorded on a single working day.

The update comes as construction continues on the Thane Coastal Road-1 project. With the latest installation, the authority has recorded a daily performance above its normal range of four to six girders, while work proceeds towards completion of the planned 13.45-km connection between Kharegaon Toll Naka and Gaimukh.
