Mumbai, July 16 -- Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party has launched the Singareni Bharosa Yatra to highlight the central government allocation of the Tadicherla-2 coal block to the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). The party said the allocation would strengthen SCCL and support its long-term financial growth. The tour, organised in association with the Union Ministry of Coal and Mines, will visit communities across the Singareni collieries belt to meet employees and stakeholders.
Party leaders described the Tadicherla-2 allotment as a significant step towards restoring the company to profit-making status and said it would boost confidence among workers. A senior party official said the action aimed to thank the prime minister and the Union minister for coal and mines for securing the allocation. The yatra was presented amid ongoing political attention to reported discrepancies in coal accounting at the company.
Media reports alleged the disappearance of four mn t of coal with an estimated value of about Rs 16 bn. The Union minister for coal and mines wrote to the state chief minister seeking an urgent inquiry into the reported irregularities and asked the state government to provide clarification. The minister said employee unions and political parties had raised concerns that coal production had been reported but was not visible in the field. The request sought a detailed probe to establish facts and provide public clarity.
The state chief minister was asked to conduct the inquiry and to report findings to ensure transparency and accountability. Party organisers said the yatra would continue while authorities examined the accounting concerns and that the allocation of Tadicherla-2 would, in their view, bring benefits to the state. The tour is due to proceed through the collieries belt as the inquiry process unfolds.
