
Mumbai, Sept. 3 -- SWELECT Energy Systems Limited (SWELECT) has commissioned a new 10 megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Tamil Nadu through its subsidiary ESG Green Energy Private Limited (ESG Green). The project achieved commercial operation on 24 August 2026 and strengthens the company's renewable energy presence in the state. The commissioning expands SWELECT's operational solar portfolio and targets industrial and commercial demand for clean electricity.
The plant is located at Nedumpirai Village in Cheyyar Taluk of Tiruvannamalai district and has been developed to supply clean electricity to industrial and commercial consumers in the region. It is connected at the 33 kilovolt (kV) level to an existing 110/33 kV 10(1) Pooling Sub Station, which was established by SWELECT in accordance with Section 10(1) of the Electricity Act, 2003. The power infrastructure is further linked to the 110/33-11 kV Sirungattur substation operated by Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited (TANTRANSCO) at the 110 kV level.
Electricity generated from the 10 MW solar project will be supplied to a designated group of industrial and commercial consumers under the Group Captive Power Sale model and transmitted through Tamil Nadu's Intra-State Open Access network to reach contracted users. The arrangement allows businesses to increase renewable energy consumption while utilising the state's open access transmission network. The project also aligns with SWELECT's strategy to grow captive and commercial renewable assets.
SWELECT formally disclosed the commissioning of the project to BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited on 25 August 2026, with the regulatory filing signed by R. Chellappan, Vice Chairman and Whole Time Director. The addition of this asset contributes to the broader expansion of solar power generation capacity in Tamil Nadu and supports industry efforts to source cleaner power through group captive arrangements. The company will continue to pursue similar projects to meet commercial and industrial demand for clean electricity.
