Mumbai, July 15 -- Swelect Energy Systems Limited has commissioned a new four point four megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Tamil Nadu, adding to its renewable energy portfolio. The project began operations on July three, 2026 and represents another milestone in the company's efforts to expand clean generation within the state. The plant's capacity reinforces Swelect's focus on scalable solar deployment for commercial electricity supply.

The installation is located at V. Muthulingapuram village in Virudhunagar taluk and district and is tied into the state network through the 33/11 kV Naranapuram substation at the 33 kV transmission level. Connection at this voltage enables efficient evacuation of generation into the regional grid and supports stable delivery to end users. Site selection and grid interfacing were arranged to meet technical and regulatory requirements for open access projects.

Electricity from the facility will be supplied to commercial and industrial consumers under a third party power sale arrangement using Tamil Nadu's intra state open access mechanism. This arrangement allows Swelect to deliver renewable electricity directly to eligible private buyers using the existing transmission infrastructure under long term commercial contracts. The model differs from captive projects and is not intended for the company's own consumption or for direct supply to the government distribution network.

The commissioning was disclosed to BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India on July four, 2026 via a regulatory filing submitted by R. Chellappan, whole time director and vice chairman of Swelect Energy Systems. The company intends the project to support businesses seeking reliable green power while contributing to the state's renewable targets. Swelect's announcement underscores its continued expansion into solar investments and provision of sustainable power solutions to India's growing commercial and industrial sector.
