Mumbai, Oct. 28 -- Dr Basharat Qayoom, Chief Executive Officer of Srinagar Smart City (SSCL), conducted a late-night inspection of the Central Business District in Srinagar on Monday, reviewing facilities at Ghanta Ghar, Sheikh Bagh Car Parking and the mechanised car parking facility at Lal Chowk. The inspection focused on the condition of infrastructure developed under the Smart City Mission and the availability of public amenities.
Qayoom directed officials to address identified deficiencies on priority, undertake repairs and restoration without delay, and complete pending works. Particular attention was given to illumination, parking management and the functioning of public conveniences across the inspected locations.
At Lal Chowk, officials were instructed to ensure regular maintenance and timely repairs of streetlights, illumination systems and facade lighting. The measures are intended to preserve the area's appearance while providing adequate lighting for pedestrians and road users.
At Sheikh Bagh, Qayoom directed officials to restore and maintain the community sanitary complex near the car parking facility. He also ordered the expedited completion of the public convenience facility on the first floor and instructed officials to make both facilities operational for public use. Officials at the mechanised car parking facility in Lal Chowk were directed to carry out necessary repairs and restore the high-mast lighting system. Qayoom further called for regular field inspections, preventive maintenance and swift resolution of operational problems, with close monitoring of corrective works to ensure that public facilities remain functional, accessible and properly maintained.
