Mumbai, July 14 -- Telangana's roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy launched a series of road development projects worth Rs 3,380 million (mn) in Ibrahimpatnam mandal, describing the works as a key step towards a safer, faster and more connected transport network around Hyderabad. The projects are being taken up under the Hybrid Annuity Model and cover the upgradation of 14 roads stretching 149 kilometres across the Hyderabad Rural region. The foundation stone was laid at Thorrur village.
Komatireddy noted that the state is undertaking one of its most ambitious road modernisation programmes, with a plan to improve 441 roads spanning 6,092 kilometres under 34 HAM packages at an estimated investment of nearly Rs 130 billion (bn). The initiative was launched by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and aims to strengthen connectivity across districts while supporting economic growth. The minister emphasised quality, durability and road safety as central to the government's infrastructure strategy.
The latest package includes corridors connecting Hayathnagar, Thorrur, Koheda, Anajpur, Abdullapurmet, Bandaraviryal, Kuntloor, Pasumamula, Taramatipet, Injapur, Brahmanpally and Ragannaguda, many of which have seen rapid expansion owing to proximity to Hyderabad's growth corridors. A notable feature is the construction of modern four-lane roads equipped with central divider lighting, a measure that is expected to improve visibility and safety for commuters. The upgraded corridors will serve the Assembly constituencies of Ibrahimpatnam, Maheshwaram, Medchal and LB Nagar, enhancing connectivity for thousands of residents and businesses.
Officials said the new network will help reduce congestion, shorten travel times and lower accident risks on some of the region's busiest routes while stimulating economic activity and strengthening rural-urban linkages. Local MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy, MPs Kiran Kumar Chamakura, Etala Rajender and K. Vishweshwar Reddy, MLC Shankar Naik and senior officials attended the programme. The works are expected to support long-term development of eastern and southeastern suburbs.
