Mumbai, July 3 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jodhpur and Balotra in Rajasthan on July four to inaugurate the HPCL Rajasthan Oil Refinery and the newly built terminal of Jodhpur airport, the state Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said. The announcement said the Prime Minister will arrive from New Delhi to dedicate the ultra-modern airport terminal and then proceed to Pachpadra-Balotra for the refinery inauguration. Local authorities have begun operational preparations to ensure smooth conduct of the functions and VVIP movement.

The project at Pachpadra is valued at Rs 794.59 billion (Rs 794,590 mn), a figure provided by state officials, and will be referred to hereafter as Rs 794.59 bn. The inauguration will mark the formal opening of what was described as a major petroleum infrastructure investment in the state. The refinery ceremony had been scheduled for April 21 but was postponed after a massive fire at the premises a day before the earlier planned event.

In addition to the two flagship projects, the Prime Minister will lay foundation stones and inaugurate several other schemes through video conferencing, including Jaipur Metro Rail Phase two, which involves an investment of more than Rs 130 billion (Rs 130,000 mn) and will be referred to subsequently as Rs 130 bn. The state government is coordinating with central agencies to finalise event protocols and security plans for multiple venues on the same day. Officials said technical and administrative teams are conducting detailed rehearsals.

Chief Minister Sharma travelled to Jodhpur and Balotra to inspect arrangements and spent more than two hours at the Pachpadra refinery and Balotra locations assessing technical and administrative preparedness. He is scheduled to return and later fly to New Delhi to attend a meeting chaired by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on follow-up action related to the Yamuna water tripartite agreement. Authorities indicated heightened security and traffic management measures around the sites to facilitate the visit.
