
Mumbai, Aug. 3 -- The Water Resources Department of the Government of Maharashtra has invited bids from eligible contractors and developers for two major renewable infrastructure projects in Parbhani and Hingoli districts under a public-private partnership model. The tender was issued by the Executive Engineer of the Purna Irrigation Division, Basmathnagar, as E-Tender Notice Number 02 for the financial year 2026-27 and the document issue date is 24 July 2026. Detailed bid documents will be available from 28 July 2026 to 11 August 2026 and technical bids are scheduled to be opened on 12 August 2026.
The first assignment covers the upgradation, operation, maintenance and management of the existing 22.5 megawatt (MW) Yeldari Dam hydroelectric plant as part of the Purna Irrigation Project. Selected developers will be offered the hydro facility under the PPP framework with the objective of improving operational efficiency, ensuring effective maintenance and maximising renewable power generation from the existing hydro resource. Financial security requirements were not included in the preliminary notice and bidders are required to consult the full tender for details on earnest money deposit and performance bank guarantee.
The second assignment envisages development of a 200 megawatt (MW) floating solar photovoltaic project integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on the reservoir surface of the Purna Project. The initiative intends to utilise available water surface area to generate clean energy while providing storage capability to support grid stability and improve renewable energy utilisation. All bidding activity must be completed online through the Maharashtra Government e-tendering portal and the department has advised participants to monitor the portal for corrigenda or additional instructions.
Authorities presented the projects as part of Maharashtra's efforts to expand renewable generation through combined hydropower, floating solar technology and battery storage solutions. The integration of floating solar with storage is expected to support cleaner power generation while making efficient use of existing water infrastructure. Interested parties are required to access the official portal for full terms, and no separate notifications will be issued through other media channels.
