Mumbai, Sept. 2 -- Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) has awarded a contract to Johnson Lifts Pvt. Ltd. for the supply and commissioning of heavy duty elevators and escalators for the Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra Metro projects. The contract is valued at Rs 896.1 mn (Rs 89.61 crore) and covers equipment supply, factory testing, site installation and commissioning across the three systems. Johnson Lifts will deliver heavy duty vertical transportation and moving walkway assets intended for station and passenger circulation areas.

It emerged as the sole bidder for the package, and the award includes maintenance support during a two-year Defect Liability Period and an additional one-year Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract after the DLP. The maintenance scope will include routine inspections, corrective repairs and spare parts support during the contracted periods, with detailed schedules to be agreed with UPMRC prior to mobilisation.

Under the terms, Johnson Lifts will be responsible for on site installation, alignment with station civil works, system integration, testing and commissioning to meet operational requirements. The company will also coordinate with project contractors and metro operators to ensure compatibility with passenger flow arrangements and safety systems. Delivery timelines and acceptance criteria are to be governed by the contract documents and project schedules issued by UPMRC.

The award forms part of procurement activity supporting expansion and modernisation of urban transit infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh and assists delivery of passenger services across the three cities. Under the contract Johnson Lifts will adhere to contractual delivery milestones and quality requirements and will provide maintenance and defect remediation during the two-year DLP and the subsequent one-year CAMC. UPMRC will monitor compliance with safety and technical standards until final acceptance.
