
Mumbai, July 15 -- The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has initiated land acquisition proceedings to close a missing road link in the Jagatpura area of Jaipur. The authority has issued notices to 27 landholders for about 24,000 square metres of land to complete the required corridor. The move forms part of the city Master Plan to improve local connectivity.
The acquisition targets a 600-metre missing stretch of a sector road off Mahal Road in the Prahladpura area that remains unpaved and has left industrial and residential zones without direct paved access. Officials said the absence of the sealed road has disrupted connections between the Prahladpura Industrial Area and the Ring Road, creating logistical challenges for commuters and businesses. The lack of direct access has been identified as a constraint on movement and transport efficiency in the sector.
JDA has indicated that the acquisition will proceed through structured engagement with affected landowners and the district administration, with compensation to be provided under prescribed rules. Meetings with landholders have already taken place and on July two the Sanganer Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the deputy commissioner of the relevant Jaipur Municipal Corporation zone conducted discussions and issued acquisition notices. Officials said the process will seek to balance project timelines with statutory requirements and landowner concerns.
Once the link is completed it is expected to improve regional mobility by giving nearly 200 industrial units in the Prahladpura Industrial Area direct access to Mahal Road and the Ring Road. The new stretch should also enable motorists travelling from Mahal Road towards Tonk Road to bypass the congested Bilwa and Prahladpura underpasses. Officials further noted the road will integrate with the under-construction cloverleaf interchange on Tonk Road and strengthen the role of Mahal Road as a key arterial route for Jagatpura residents and commuters. The authority anticipates that the upgrade will enhance freight movement and local traffic flows while supporting planned urban development.
