Mumbai, Nov. 2 -- India's economy is projected to grow by 7.35% in the second quarter of FY27, according to the Monthly Economic Review for October released by the Ministry of Finance. The assessment points to sustained economic momentum across several key areas of activity during the quarter.

The review identified higher industrial output, increased energy consumption and stronger port traffic as important indicators of growth. Robust Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections and rising automobile sales also indicated continued activity in tax collections and consumer demand.

Together, these indicators reflected broad-based expansion across industry, energy, logistics, taxation and the automobile sector. The Ministry of Finance used the performance of these high-frequency indicators to assess the strength of economic activity during the second quarter of FY27.

The report also highlighted the resilience of India's external sector amid global uncertainty. Total merchandise and services exports increased by 11% year-on-year (YoY) in September 2026, while merchandise exports recorded a sharper rise of 23.1%.

Merchandise exports emerged as the main driver of overall export growth during the month. Electronics and engineering goods made significant contributions to the increase, adding strength to India's export performance alongside the growth recorded in services exports.
