Mumbai, Oct. 27 -- Hartek Power has secured an 80 MW turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project worth approximately Rs. 2 bn from a leading steel manufacturer. The solar project will be developed in Uttar Pradesh to support captive power consumption and increase renewable energy use in the manufacturer's industrial operations. Completion is scheduled for 31 December 2026.

Under the contract, Hartek Power will manage the project's complete execution, including engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing and commissioning. The scope also covers the supply of solar modules, inverters, power transformers and inverter duty transformers. The turnkey arrangement gives the company responsibility for the project from the engineering stage through final commissioning.

The project reflects the increasing adoption of renewable energy by commercial and industrial consumers seeking to improve energy efficiency, manage electricity costs and reduce dependence on conventional power sources. Steel manufacturing is an energy-intensive activity requiring substantial electricity, while captive solar generation can help industrial users integrate clean power into their energy mix and support sustainability targets.

Simarpreet Singh, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hartek Power, said the award demonstrated the broader shift among energy-intensive industries towards cleaner and more efficient power solutions. He said the company's commercial and industrial renewable energy business was working with large customers across India to support decarbonisation plans and net-zero ambitions. Singh added that the contract strengthened Hartek Power's position in integrated solar EPC solutions for industrial customers.

Hartek Power operates across power systems, solar EPC and rooftop solar, providing solutions for utility-scale and industrial renewable energy projects. Its capabilities include design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and associated electrical infrastructure. The company has connected more than 10 GW of solar capacity to the national grid and executed renewable energy projects across multiple states. The latest contract adds to its project portfolio and expands its presence in India's commercial and industrial renewable energy segment.
