Mumbai, Sept. 26 -- GMR Aero Technic and StandardAero have signed an agreement to establish an authorised service centre for on-wing aircraft engine support in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The centre will combine StandardAero's engine aftermarket expertise with GMR Aero Technic's maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities and location in India.

The proposed facility will provide specialised engine maintenance and support services to airlines and aircraft operators across APAC. The companies said the arrangement would help reduce aircraft downtime, improve operational efficiency and give operators access to support closer to their operating bases.

The agreement covers engine and module replacement activities, borescope inspections, fan blade and fuel nozzle replacements, gearbox changes, engine preservation and storage. It also includes Quick Engine Change (QEC) build-up, Electronic Control Unit (ECU) software upgrades, engine logistics support and engine change services.

The expanded capabilities are expected to support faster responses and improve fleet availability for operators in the region. The partnership also marks a step in GMR Aero Technic's strategy to broaden its operations beyond traditional airframe MRO into higher-value engine and component support services.

GMR Aero Technic President and Accountable Manager Ashok Gopinath said the company would combine StandardAero's global aftermarket knowledge with its infrastructure and regional presence to develop a responsive on-wing support network. He said the collaboration supported the company's objective of strengthening India's position as a hub for aircraft MRO and specialised aviation services.

StandardAero Senior Vice-President for Global Sales Rebecca Lane said the partnership would reinforce the company's existing support for operators in India. She noted that India is among the fastest-growing commercial aviation markets and said the tie-up reflected StandardAero's aim to provide local support through its global network. The companies said the initiative would contribute to India's development as a competitive MRO hub by bringing specialised services closer to customers in the country and the wider region.
