Mumbai, Sept. 10 -- The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has submitted a revised proposal to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to acquire five point two one acres of land for a service road along the Central Peripheral Road (CPR), extending from Elan Mall in Sector 84 towards NH 48. The revision includes the acquisition of 164 sq metres of licensed land belonging to a residential society to enable that colony to access the proposed road.
Officials said the land proposed for acquisition lies in the revenue estates of Sihi and Mohammadpur Jharsa village. A 12-metre-wide service road is planned on the left side of the CPR along the Dwarka Motorway, running from the Elan Mall stretch up to NH 48. Work on portions of the corridor has begun and some land has already been acquired for the alignment.
GMDA revised the plan to ensure privately licensed colonies along the stretch can gain direct access and has indicated it will bear the cost of land acquisition. The proposal to take 164 sq metres within a residential project has been approved by the department of town and country planning, and the authority has said it will meet additional expenditure for acquiring and constructing the connecting stretch.
Officials expect the service road to benefit residential projects along the CPR, notably Krisumi Waterfall residences, and around 1,400 families residing in the AVL 36 Society in Sector 36A. Various developments currently under construction along the corridor, together with the adjoining Global City project, are also likely to gain from the improved local connectivity that the service road would provide.
GMDA has requested NHAI to verify the exact land to be acquired before issuing a final notification and has submitted the revised proposal for higher-level consideration. NHAI has been reported to have the matter under review by senior officials, and the authority indicated that final clearances and any further steps will follow once verification and approvals are completed.
