Mumbai, July 15 -- Delhi Transport Corporation has introduced an experimental bus service, Route 753 Ext, to improve connectivity between Central Delhi and residential areas in West Delhi. The service will provide direct links for residents of Janakpuri, Vikaspuri, Hastsal, Shiv Vihar, Uttam Nagar, Hari Nagar and adjoining localities to Mori Gate, Kashmere Gate, Old Delhi Railway Station and New Delhi Railway Station. Authorities presented the launch as a measure to ease daily commuting and enhance access to major interstate transport hubs.
The transport minister said the route launch reflects the government's commitment to accessible and commuter friendly public transport and to expanding services under the leadership of the chief minister. He noted that the extension aims to benefit office goers, students, senior citizens and regular passengers and is expected to offer a direct, affordable link for members of the Purvanchal community travelling to Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Officials described the initiative as part of a broader effort to make the city's transport network more convenient and citizen centric.
The service has been introduced on an experimental basis and will be monitored for ridership patterns and operational viability before any permanent scheduling decisions are taken. Transport department sources said timetable adjustments, frequency changes and route refinements may follow empirical assessments and commuter feedback over the initial trial period. The authorities also indicated coordination with city terminals to ensure connections at key nodes such as the major railway stations.
Commuters in the covered West Delhi neighbourhoods are anticipated to gain shorter journey times and more direct access to central employment and transit centres, reducing reliance on multiple transfers. The administration plans outreach to inform residents about route details, boarding points and fares so that users can incorporate the new service into daily travel plans. Further expansions of bus services were described as contingent on observed demand and the success of experimental routes such as this extension.
