Mumbai, Aug. 29 -- The Chhattisgarh government has signed two memoranda of understanding with the Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics and National Logistics Data Services Ltd to expand the use of geospatial technology and integrated logistics data under the Prime Minister's GatiShakti (PM GatiShakti) framework. The agreements, inked on 20 August during a dissemination workshop, are intended to strengthen data-driven planning for infrastructure and logistics and to create more favourable conditions for sustainable economic growth and investment in the state.
The pacts were concluded at the PM GatiShakti and LEADS 2025 Dissemination Workshop jointly organised by the state Commerce and Industries Department and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. Officials from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, NLDSL and representatives of seven states attended. The chief minister said that PM GatiShakti has been strengthening data-driven decision making in the state and enabling authorities to plan infrastructure more effectively by identifying connectivity and logistics gaps and aligning industrial development.
Chhattisgarh has onboarded more than 35 state departments onto the platform and mapped 41 mandatory and over 600 additional data layers to support integrated planning. The state has developed 45 use cases and 30 tools to apply the platform practically for infrastructure and development planning. Geographical information system based identification of road black spots is being used to target interventions to reduce accidents and enhance road safety, while analyses are guiding measures to improve banking access and to optimise bus routes.
Around 600 mobile towers have been installed to improve connectivity at tourism sites and 700 acres in Nava Raipur have been finalised under the Bhavya Scheme to facilitate planned development. Chhattisgarh was recognised as a high performer among landlocked states in the DPIIT LEADS 2025 assessment, reflecting progress in operationalising PM GatiShakti. The Forest Department's Gaj Sanket application was highlighted as an example of geospatial use to address human elephant conflict and to support geographically informed decision making for safety and conservation.
