Mumbai, Sept. 30 -- Purvah Green Power, the renewable energy arm of CESC, has signed a power supply agreement with Prism Johnson to develop a 49.5 MW wind project in Madhya Pradesh. The project will operate under a group captive model and supply renewable electricity to Prism Johnson's manufacturing operations in the state.
The wind project will be established by KUS Renewable (KRPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Purvah Green Power (PGPPL). The agreement provides for the supply of power to Prism Johnson for 25 years, linking the renewable generation asset with the cement manufacturer's operations in Madhya Pradesh.
Commercial operations are scheduled to begin on January 25, 2028. The project is the first commercial and industrial power supply agreement signed by Purvah Green Power, which serves as the renewable energy platform of CESC within the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group.
The group captive structure will allow the participating consumer to receive power from the project while holding a stake in the asset, according to the company's statement. The arrangement forms part of Purvah Green Power's efforts to build its commercial and industrial renewable energy business.
The agreement expands CESC's renewable energy activities beyond its existing platform and gives Prism Johnson a contracted source of renewable electricity for its manufacturing facilities in the state. The project's capacity, operating model, supply period and scheduled commissioning date were disclosed in the announcement.
The development comes as industrial consumers seek greater access to renewable power through captive and group captive arrangements. Under the agreement, Purvah Green Power will develop the wind capacity through KRPL, while Prism Johnson will receive the generated electricity during the 25-year supply period.
