Mumbai, Sept. 1 -- August Energy, a decarbonisation advisory firm, and Energeia, an energy consultancy, have formed a partnership to establish a $100 mn energy efficiency infrastructure platform. The platform is intended to finance and deploy projects that upgrade energy systems across industry and commercial buildings. The partners framed the initiative as a response to rising energy costs and corporate sustainability commitments, and they positioned the vehicle as a dedicated channel for efficiency investments. Both firms have committed to mobilise expertise and co-ordinate capital allocation for initial project pipelines.

The platform will focus on retrofits, distributed energy resources and operational improvements that reduce consumption and enhance reliability. It will combine project development, performance contracting and capital provision to accelerate implementation timelines. Technical due diligence and performance guarantees are planned to underpin project selection. The partners indicated that the model draws on their respective technical and financial capabilities to identify and scale viable opportunities.

Investment structures include long term capital, yield oriented instruments and performance linked returns designed to attract institutional investors and corporates seeking off balance sheet solutions. The partnership intends to create standardised project pipelines and measurement frameworks to underpin investor confidence and manage performance risk. The vehicle will be able to aggregate smaller projects into larger portfolios to achieve scale and lower unit costs. Governance arrangements will align incentives between investors and project operators.

Market participants said the platform is designed to broaden access to energy efficiency investments by addressing early stage barriers such as upfront capital needs and technical capacity. The partners set out a phased approach to deployment that prioritises markets with established regulatory support and measurable energy savings potential. Monitoring and verification mechanisms are to be embedded to ensure measurable outcomes. They presented the move as part of a broader trend towards infrastructure models that channel private capital into low carbon and efficiency opportunities.
