Nobel Laureate John Jumper Leaves Google DeepMind, Joins Anthropic
New Delhi, June 20 -- John Jumper, the Google DeepMind scientist who shared the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for developing the AI-powered protein prediction system AlphaFold, has announced that he is leaving the company after nearly nine years and will join AI startup Anthropic.
Jumper revealed the move in a post on X, saying he would first take some time off before taking up his new role at Anthropic. He did not disclose the position he will hold at the company. In his post, Jumper thanked Google DeepMind and CEO Demis Hassabis for giving him the opportunity to lead the AlphaFold project shortly after completing his PhD.
