New Delhi, April 7 -- India's tech hiring has started FY2027 on a cautious note. Active tech job demand fell 8% month-on-month to 1,10,000 roles in April 2026, according to Xpheno. This drop reverses the hiring gains seen in January and February, bringing demand back to February-like levels and pointing to a slower start to the new fiscal year.
In its "Active Tech Jobs Outlook - India - April 2026" report, Xpheno said this is among the weakest starts to a fiscal year in recent times, with FY2027 likely to record the second-lowest opening in six years. The firm linked the slowdown to global uncertainties and macro pressures that are beginning to affect hiring pipelines.
