Google Restricts Meta's Gemini Access Amid AI Compute Race
New Delhi, July 1 -- Google has limited Meta's access to its Gemini AI models after the social media giant sought more computing capacity than Google could provide, as per reports. The reported decision underscores how infrastructure constraints are starting to influence strategic relationships in the AI ecosystem.
The report says Google informed Meta around March that it would not be able to provide the full Gemini capacity the company had requested.
The shortfall reportedly disrupted and delayed some of Meta's internal AI projects. While other Google customers have also experienced capacity limitations, the report suggests Meta has been affected more significantly because of its unusually large demand for Google's AI models.
