New Delhi, Sept. 30 -- For years, qualifications and past experience have shaped how employers shortlist candidates. But for many technical and frontline jobs, neither necessarily shows whether someone can handle the work itself.

That is becoming more relevant in manufacturing, where automation and digitalisation are changing the skills required on the job. Employers are beginning to look at practical tests, simulations and role-specific assessments to get a clearer picture of what candidates can do.
