US bond yields soar, 30-year treasury yield hits highest in 22 years
Mumbai, Sept. 25 -- The US Treasury yields hit fresh two-decade highs Thursday as oil prices jumped and Fed rate hike expectations dominated market sentiments. After having posted its biggest one-day rise since April 2025, the yield on the 10-year US Treasury bond hit 5.20%, holding around 19-year high. The yield on the 30-year US Treasury bond soared near 5.50%, a level not seen in 22 years. Fed officials also offered critical cues for the bond market. Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John Williams stated that the US central bank still has more work to do to help bring down inflation and another rate hike may be appropriate by the end of the year.
