Mumbai, Aug. 20 -- The US Treasury yields eased yesterday as Treasury Department announced it would increase the size of its government debt repurchases by "at least double" in a surprise move. The Treasury also announced that outstanding public debt had reached $40 trillion for the first time. The yield on the 30-year Treasury bond fell under 5.20%. It had hit a fresh 19-year high near 5.30% earlier this week. The 10-year yield, key for consumer borrowing rates, also eased modestly towards 4.63%. It is currently holding steady around 4.64% as Fed policymakers' inflation concerns increased, as per latest meeting minutes.
