Mumbai, Oct. 9 -- The key equity indices ended with a major gain on Friday, snapping a two-session losing streak, as easing crude oil prices and improved global sentiment lifted investor appetite following Thursday's sharp selloff. Sentiment also received a boost from strong buying in IT stocks after Tata Consultancy Services reported its Q2 FY27 results. The Nifty closed above the 22,500 level. Barring oil & gas, all other sectoral indices ended in the green on the NSE.

As per provisional closing data, the S&P BSE Sensex jumped 879.09 points, or 1.23%, to 72,472.33, while the Nifty 50 rose 288.65 points, or 1.30%, to 22,520.45. Over the past two trading sessions, the Sensex declined 2.03%, while the Nifty 50 fell 2.4%.
