Mumbai, Sept. 22 -- The key equity benchmarks traded with minor gains in the morning trade. The Nifty traded above the 23,400 level. Private bank shares extended their gains for the third consecutive trading session.

At 10:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 46.91 points or 0.06% to 74,905.90. The Nifty 50 index rose 23.15 points or 0.10% to 23,437.45.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index added 0.33% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 0.22%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2,314 shares rose and 1,476 shares fell. A total of 237 shares were unchanged.

Buzzing Index:

The Nifty Private Bank index rose 0.35% to 27,465.65. The index jumped 1.08% in the three consecutive trading sessions.
