Sensex, Nifty trade in negative terrain; realty shares surge
Mumbai, Sept. 30 -- The benchmarks pared all gains and traded with minor losses in mid-afternoon trade, weighed down by a marginal rise in crude oil prices and continued selling by foreign institutional investors (FIIs). The Nifty traded below the 22,700 level.
Realty shares rebounded after declining in the past two trading sessions.
At 14:25 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex shed 48.85 points or 0.07% to 72,480.22. The Nifty 50 index declined 0.22 points or 0.22% to 22,666.40.
In the broader market, the Nifty 150 MidCap Index jumped 0.59% and the Nifty 250 SmallCap Index rose 0.96%.
The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 1,953 shares rose and 1,546 shares fell. A total of 124 shares were unchanged.
