Mumbai, Sept. 21 -- The key equity benchmarks traded with significant gains in early afternoon trade supported by easing crude oil prices and positive global cues. Sentiment was also aided by value buying at lower levels. The Nifty traded above the 23,400 mark.

Realty shares rallied for the fourth consecutive trading session.

At 12:25 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex jumped 524.30 points or 0.70% to 74,814.76. The Nifty 50 index added 70.80 points or 0.31% to 23,417.25.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index shed 0.05% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index rose 0.17%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2,140 shares rose and 2,065 shares fell. A total of 300 shares were unchanged.
